GHRP-6 Acetate

Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6 · His-DTrp-Ala-Trp-DPhe-Lys

Think of it as the body's hunger switch with a growth boost.

GHRP-6 Acetate is like flipping the switch on your body's natural growth hormone production while also turning up the volume on your appetite. Imagine your body being nudged to release more growth hormone, which can be a big help if you're looking to support muscle growth or recovery.

But here's the twist: it also makes you feel hungrier, thanks to its strong resemblance to ghrelin, the 'hunger hormone.' This can be a double-edged sword—great if you need to increase your food intake, but maybe not ideal if you're watching your calorie count. Some research even looks at its potential benefits for heart health, separate from its growth hormone effects.

Who it's for

  • Bodybuilders looking to boost muscle growth and recovery
  • People struggling to gain weight who need a bigger appetite
  • Athletes interested in exploring potential heart health benefits
  • Fitness enthusiasts curious about growth hormone dynamics

Probably not for you if…

  • Anyone trying to curb their appetite or lose weight
  • People sensitive to water retention or bloating
  • Those looking for a 'quick fix' without adjusting diet or exercise

Mechanism of Action

GHRP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide ghrelin-receptor agonist and one of the first-generation GH secretagogues. Like GHRP-2, it stimulates pituitary GH release via GHSR-1a, but it produces a substantially more pronounced appetite-stimulating effect due to stronger central ghrelin-like activity. It also mildly elevates prolactin and cortisol. Research interest persists for models of cachexia and appetite stimulation in addition to GH axis work.

Researched Benefits

GH release via ghrelin pathway

Acute pituitary GH pulse comparable in magnitude to GHRP-2, complementary to GHRH analogs.

  • [Bowers et al. 1984]

Appetite stimulation

Marked orexigenic effect has been studied in cachexia and wasting models where increased caloric intake is desirable.

Cytoprotective research

Preclinical work has examined cardioprotective effects independent of GH release via ghrelin receptor signaling.

Research Protocols

The following dosing ranges have appeared in published research protocols. Presented for informational purposes only — not a recommendation for human use.

Standard research

Dosage
100 mcg
Frequency
2–3x daily
Timing
pre-bed, fasted morning, post-workout
Cycle
8 weeks

Lower dose than GHRP-2 often used due to pronounced hunger response. Pair with GHRH analog for synergy.

Reported Side Effects

  • Strong appetite increase (dominant side effect)
  • Water retention
  • Lethargy or tiredness post-injection
  • Mild cortisol and prolactin elevation
  • Head and joint tingling at higher doses

Contraindications

  • Active malignancy
  • Pregnancy and lactation
  • Hyperprolactinemia or prolactinoma
  • Uncontrolled obesity (orexigenic effect counterproductive)

Stacks well with

· Supplement companions — independent evidence, not sponsored
  • Creatine Monohydrate Powder 1kg

    BulkSupplements

Creatine + GH-axis peptides increase lean-mass signaling via different pathways (IGF-1 + phosphocreatine replenishment). Most-studied stack in the literature.

  • Whey Protein Isolate 5 lb (Grass-Fed, Unflavored)

    NAKED Nutrition

Growth-hormone-axis research is substrate-limited — without adequate protein intake the signaling can't translate to tissue.
