The 5 vendor signals that actually matter

Most vendor reviews are vibes. Stacked Score scores against five concrete factors — none of them subjective, all of them verifiable on the vendor's own website.

  1. Signal 01 — COA Lab Tier

Who tested the peptide, and can the buyer verify it? Community-independent labs (Janoshik, Finnrick, Vanguard, Chromate, Freedom Diagnostics, Kovera, BioViridian) test samples that the lab itself acquires — vendors can't cherry-pick what gets tested. That's the gold standard.

Below that: accredited third-party CROs (Anresco, Eurofins, Intertek, AFI). Real testing, but the vendor controls what samples get sent. Acceptable, not exceptional.

Below that: in-house testing only. Treat as marketing claim until proven otherwise.

  2. Signal 02 — Public Per-Batch COA Library

Are batch-numbered COAs publicly accessible? A "we test every batch" marketing line is meaningless without the actual PDFs. The strongest vendors expose a per-batch library where you can match the lot number on your vial to a public certificate.

Stronger still: vendors who let you verify on the lab's own site (Janoshik's verify portal, Chromate's QR-code system, FreedomDiagnosticsTesting.com search) — the vendor can't tamper with the chain of custody.

  3. Signal 03 — Payment Rails

Card processing, with chargeback protection. Crypto-only checkout is a red flag — it suggests the vendor can't keep a card processor for long. Mixed (card + crypto option) is fine. Card-only or card-plus-Zelle is the broadest signal of operational stability.

  4. Signal 04 — Shipping Discipline

Tracked, fast, in-stock visibility. Same-day shipping cutoffs, FedEx 2-Day or overnight options, cold-chain add-ons for sensitive compounds — these are signals of operational maturity. A vendor whose product pages hide stock status until you reach checkout has problems.

  5. Signal 05 — Community Recognition

Years of operating history + Reddit + YouTube footprint. Vendors with 3+ years of consistent operations and active community discussion (r/Peptides, r/SARMSourceTalk, YouTube review channels) survive the inevitable batch issue without disappearing. Brand-new entrants can be excellent — but they carry more risk.

Section 3

Red flags — how to spot the bottom 30%

  • Red Flag

No COAs anywhere on the site

If a vendor advertises 'lab tested' but doesn't expose actual certificates, the testing claim is unverifiable. Pass.

  • Red Flag

    Crypto-only checkout

Card processors drop vendors with high chargeback rates or compliance issues. Crypto-only often means they ran out of options.

  • Red Flag

    Vendor-named lab tests

If the COA says 'Tested by [Vendor] Quality Control' rather than naming an outside lab, treat as marketing.

  • Red Flag

    Stock claims that never update

Honest vendors run out. A vendor whose entire catalog reads 'In Stock' for months is either lying or hasn't built proper inventory infrastructure.

  • Red Flag

FDA warning letter history without remediation

Some of the largest peptide vendors have warning letters on file. That's not automatically disqualifying — but the vendor should publicly acknowledge and document changes since.

  • Red Flag

    Aggressive medical-use marketing

Research compounds marketed for weight loss, anti-aging, or any therapeutic indication get FDA attention. Avoid vendors who lean into medical-use language; that's the regulatory tightrope they're going to fall off.
